Icon System Software Releases

Version 1.06 Build 21 Release date: 10/15/07

Below are some of the changes in Version 1.06 Build 21. For a complete list please go to the updatess folder on the hard drive of your Icon.

Virtual Memory:

We have added virtual memory to the software. This will allow the user to open as many applications as they wish and keep them open.

File Explorer:

We added the ability to check the amount of free space on any device the file explorer has access too. This includes the hard drive and any thumb drive plugged in to the Icon.

Network Manager:

The wireless control panel and the network manager have been combined in to one application called the network manager. We also added WPA and WPA2 support for wireless connectivity. We also now allow users to connect with wireless access points that have hidden ids.

Bookshelf:

The Icon will now remember where you left a book even if the book is a textfile or a .brf file.

Email and Address Book:

An address can be saved to the address book directly from the email program. You can also retrieve the addresses out of the address book using the Email program.

RSS Reader:

When searching for feeds you can select more than one feed if they are available. The search will attempt to find all available feeds on a given page.

Miscellaneous:

• Speech rate can be increased and decreased on the fly. Use # + volume up or down to make this change.
• You can change the amount of punctuation that is spoken without having to go to the settings menu.
• We have introduced Indexing in the file explorer and email applications.
• Users are able to cut and paste text between applications.
• We improved hardware detection. The Icon is much faster telling you when new hardware is found.
